Delta 7 opens with a fictional account of the main character's first combat mission flying the USAF's F-111F fighter bomber during the 1986 raid called "El Dorado Canyon."  Although the F-111 plays a minor role in Delta 7, it is an important part of the novel's fast-paced first chapter.
