John Cathcart, Sr.
m. Mary/Felicity Fisher

Sometimes referred to as John C or John Robert Cathcart, this John is the progenitor of another important line of Cathcarts. Several online trees suggest that John's father's name was William Cathcart (click here for possible William Cathcarts).

Several descendants of this line report that John was one of three brothers who came from either Scotland or Ireland. John settled in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. One of his brothers went to Tennessee (possibly Joseph Cathcart, the revolutionary war spy); and another brother went to South Carolina.

Although there are many online sources suggesting that John's wife was Mary/Felicity Fisher, it is also possible that his wife was Mary Berryhill.
